My black and white project was my most successful because it turned out looking how I imagined it to look like. The theme of my project was country. When I think of country, I think of country music, which sometimes includes banjos, and farms. I first made different sketches of designs, then I picked the best one. Then I carved out the black parts with an X-Acto knife, then glued it to a white piece of paper. I think the choices I made for the design, subject and technique were beneficial to enhancing this project because it ended up looking good. I feel like the instruction given was enough to ensure success because I wasn't confused at what to do. If there wasn't enough instruction, I would've had to ask how to do a lot of it.
I feel like my perspective drawing was my least successful project because it looks empty to me. I feel like I made the two point perspective look really good, but there was too much empty space. I also think I should've added more color because there is way too much white. I could've also added more dark colors and shading to my drawing to make it look more realistic. If I could've done things differently, I would've added a lot more buildings to make it look more like a city, and to get rid of some of the free space. I would've also added more into the background and the sky. My favorite part of this drawing was the Crayola box. This was also the hardest part of the project because I had a hard time on making the letters in perspective and positioning the green tab in the right spot.
My clay tile and my painting show my growth as an artist. My clay tile show shading and texture, which in the beginning of the year, I didn't know how to do. In the bunny, I made it look 3D by sticking newspaper underneath it so it had a round body, which I think looks really cool. I also made it look like it has fur by carving gashes into the clay, and adding dark brown streaks. In the mountains, I added value by making the bottom darker, which makes it look more realistic, and not as flat. In my painting, I added a lot of value and texture. I added darker spots in the mountain and the part of the water that looks closer to you is lighter than farther back. I also added a reflection of the mountain in the water that looks awesome. In the beginning of the year, I probably would've added the same color to the reflection so it would look like the same mountain, but upside down. In the beginning of art, I wouldn't have believe that that would be mine at the end of the year. Out of every class I had this year, I improved in art more than I did in anything else.
My landscape painting reflects me as an artist. Mountains and lakes are my favorite thing to draw because I feel like I always do a good job on them. I am connected to this painting because going to the mountains is my favorite thing to do during the summer. The summer is also my favorite time of the year. I always feel relaxed when I'm at the mountains and, when I was painting this landscape I felt relaxed. I also love going to the lake to wake board. I think I had so much fun on this project because I was drawing some of my favorite things. I also really like flowers because they remind me of summer, and I love to smell them.
The linoleum project was my favorite medium to work with because I did a project with it last year so I felt comfortable doing this project. My linoleum project was an exotic bird flying through palm trees. I like hands on projects more than drawing so I really like carving the linoleum. I also thought it was fun printing the picture on the paper because each one could turn out different. I really liked my design for this project because I like birds and palm trees remind me of being at the beach, and I love the beach. I felt like I did a really good job carving my design into the linoleum. I think it looks really clean and you can clearly see what everything is. I really liked how the bark on my palm trees made them look almost 3D. I feel like I got even better at carving linoleum with this project, and if I take art again, I would enjoy doing another project like this
